Assistant Vice President / Vice President – Operation Finance

Job Description:

Direct the financial control activities for a management services and real estate services. Reporting to the Head of Finance, be responsible for facilitating and ensuring budgetary control, adherence to business plan, oversight of the day-to-day activities of the finance team and accurate financial management and reporting of the account. The AVP Operation Finance ensures that the Account & finance function is organized, efficient and produces accurate results in compliance with the business plan. Specific goals include recommendations to encourage the continuous improvement of financial performance. The AVP Operation Finance will be proactive member of the Account Management Team with direct involvement in and accountability for the overall financial performance of the business plan. This position will be responsible for monitoring hotel operation finance performance, identify the SOP gap and identify a training needed for the subordinates and properties DOF/FC.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct a regular meetings and Quarterly Review with property DOF/FC to align SHR Finance SOP, sharing challenges and best practices.
  • Ensure high standards of financial control are maintained and that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented, reviewed, and validated.
  • Management of the finance function and oversight of the finance team.
  • Work with Corporate Office Management/Finance/Construction leadership to ensure proper accounting and reporting of expenses.
  • Oversight of the production of commercially astute management information and analysis to support the business plan.
  • Preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting.
  • Forecasting, financial modeling and expense analysis.
  • Cash management and oversight of expense disbursements.
  • Responsible to identify potential risk to business plan.
  • Maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes and controls.
  • Timely production of internal financial reports of the group.
  • Monthly preparation of Consolidated P&L and Balance Sheet.
  • Work closely with internal auditor and external auditor.
  • Familiar with USALI (Updated), IFRS and Public Listed Company accounting requirement.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENT:

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate commercial acumen in areas of improving business performance at a strategic and practical level.

  • Excellent understanding of operational cost control, vendor management and quality assurance.
  • Candidate must have the capability to manage, coach and counsel a team of financial professionals in the performance of their duties and identified goals and objectives including remote team.
  • Must be a strong team player with an ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, other department heads and client representatives.
  • Energetic, lateral thinker with an enquiring mind and a commercial approach.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of programs to drive out cost inefficiencies.
  • High degree of personal drive and motivation to succeed.
  • Good communicator (written and verbal).
  • Ability to learn quickly and keep abreast of developments.
  • Committed to achievement of assigned goals and targets.
  • Ability to lead the team and maintain good relationship.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain progress on multiple projects and processes.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor of Accounting required.
  • At least 15 years’ experience in the accounting or financial field, with at least 8 years in a senior management position as controller.
  • Working experience with accounting systems as well as internal and external audit functions required.
  • Experience as a Department Head including business planning, budgeting, personnel management, and staff modeling.
  • Experience in managing business operations within a fixed cost environment and ability to minimize financial exposure.
  • Experience in vendor contract administration, financial control, staff management property and facility management require.
