Press Room

Bangkok – 7 April 2025 – S Hotels and Resorts PCL (“SHR”), the international hospitality company under Singha Estate, reaffirms its foundational promise to safeguard the planet as it joins the world in celebrating Earth Day 2025. By embracing partnerships with like-minded sustainable brands and implementing innovative green initiatives, S Hotels & Resorts continues to place a great emphasis on conservation and environmental stewardship at the very core of its operations. With every action, from rolling out eco-friendly bathroom amenities to protecting endangered species, the Company strives to inspire meaningful and influential changes and create a lasting positive impact for future generations.

Saving our sharks, one hatched pup at a time

Bamboo sharks successfully released into the ocean

Through its Marine Discovery Centres in Thailand and the Maldives, SAii Hotels continues to inspire guests with vital conservation initiatives, such as coral propagation, mangrove planting and its “Save Our Sharks” programme. Since 2021, SAii Phi Phi Island Village has released a total of 35 sharks into the wild, while its onsite nursery, in collaboration with the Phuket Marine Biological Centre, nurtures shark eggs and juveniles to support marine life restoration and

ecosystem balance. In addition, our MDCs also help nurture marine species that that have been washed ashore, providing them with the necessary support before their return to the ocean.

Eco-Boutique collection: stays enhanced with nature-loving, luxurious products

Eco-Boutique collection featured at all SAii properties

In a key partnership announced earlier this year, SAii Hotels & Resorts has teamed up with ADA Cosmetics International – the first hotel amenities manufacturer to offer a fully Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver product portfolio – to introduce the premium Eco-Boutique collection across all SAii properties. The five-product line, crafted with up to 98% naturally derived ingredients and 100% post-consumer recycled plastic, enhances guest experiences while protecting aquatic systems and ecosystems.

Moringa Project: Healing with nature

Another example of a like-minded collaboration is Santiburi Koh Samui’s partnership with Moringa Project, introducing eco-friendly spa treatments that feature organic, nutrient-rich

moringa oil for an all-natural wellness experience. By collaborating with a community of local farmers to provide cold-press the oil, the Thailand-based brand ensures the highest quality products while supporting the local smallholder economy.

Guests at Santiburi Koh Samui can further connect with the island’s lush landscape through the resort's guided nature trail, which highlights the region’s rich flora and fauna, fostering ecological awareness and appreciation.

Leading the way in green events and energy solutions

Since its inception, the group has remained steadfast in its commitment to increasing the share of renewable energy across its hotel operations, with a strong emphasis on solar power to o generate clean energy and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

To foster an environmentally friendly and sustainable hotel business over the long term, SHR has installed solar panels at its self-managed hotels as well as extending clean energy initiatives to the SO/Maldives. In 2024, clean energy accounted for around 10% of their total electricity consumption in Thailand and Maldives.

Reflecting the group’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, SAii Laguna Phuket and SAii Lagoon Maldives have set a new standard in green MICE as recipients of GOLD Certifications from the Event Industry Council – the first and only venues in Thailand and the Maldives to achieve this recognition. Further highlighting the brand’s focus on sustainable operations are the prestigious Green Globe certifications awarded to all SAii properties and Santiburi Koh Samui for third consecutive years.
